Tech Soup - Social Venture Exchange SVX

SVX supported the Akwesasne Nation Economic Development Corporation and their goals of building sovereign Indigenous community wealth through alternative models and pathways of accessing capital for their community and its entrepreneurs and businesses. We conducted market research and ecosystem interviews, presented case studies, and facilitated stakeholder education. 

In 2021, members of the Akwesasne Nation’s Economic Development Corporation, and supported by the Cornwall and the Counties CFDC, approached SVX for help with a research project. The Research Report supported the Akwesasne Nation in: 

  • Identifying opportunities to better support Indigenous entrepreneurs in seeking out lending for capital investments.  
  • Building sovereign wealth and indigenous wealth by leveraging the community and the Economic Development Corporation (EDC).  
  • Educating and informing Indigenous stakeholders about alternative solutions and pathways to access capital for their communities.Â
