Canada boasts a great innovation ecosystem supported by a large network of business accelerators and incubators (BAI), including private, public and university-supported BAIs. In BC for example, there are dozens of organizations that offer crucial support programs to help entrepreneurs launch and scale their businesses. As we explain in this blog post, BAI can be leveraged to help startups build capacity to embed environmental, social and governance (ESG) into their strategy and operations early on in their enterprise development. BAI programs also offer a great opportunity to cerate awareness about the role of business in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and advance indigenous reconciliation. This will not only benefit our regional and national climate and sustainability goals but also help Canadian ventures be more attractive to ESG and impact-driven investors and other capital providers.
We developed this database to help BC entrepreneurs quickly access and identify incubator, accelerator, and mentorship programs that are offered in British Columbia, while allowing them to filter through various criteria that meet their goals.
This list is not exhaustive. All data presented in our tables and charts are based on publicly available information from the organizations’ websites. Data will be updated periodically. We thank Lynn Works for valuable research assistance for this project. We encourage you to contact us with data corrections, comments and new submissions.
