What’s the difference between ESG, SRI, and impact investing?
All three approaches align investing with values, but they work differently. Environmental, social, governance (ESG) investing integrates environmental, social, and governance factors to manage risk and improve returns. Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) takes a more values-based approach, excluding companies or industries that conflict with an investor’s ethics. Impact investing goes further, requiring intentionality, measurability, and a specific pursuit of positive social or environmental outcomes alongside financial return.
